North Coast KelpFest is from May 18 to June 17, a month-long series of events exploring the beauty and benefits of bull kelp forests off of our coast through art, science, food, and film. Just a few of the events include a low tide walk with a seaweed expert from U.C. Berkeley, an art workshop utilizing a fabric dye made from purple urchins, and the screening of a compelling documentary about the potential of kelp farming. There’s even a month-long art exhibit at the Mendocino Art Center featuring both two- and three-dimensional works from local and regional artists!
