Birds of the Ten Mile Estuary
May 10 @ 9:00 am - 11:30 am
The birds of the Ten Mile Estuary will be a leisurely walk on the Old Smith Ranch trail with Matt from the Mendocino Land Trust helping to identify birds and learn about their habits along the way. You can expect to see some migrating songbirds this time of year who are either passing through on their way north or looking for nesting sites. Along the river we look for year-round resident ducks, geese, and herons. Under the Ten Mile bridge, you should also see a flurry of swallows building nests, and hopefully catch sight of a Bald Eagle. Saturday May 10, meet at the parking lot for the Old Smith Ranch Trailhead at 9am. Bring water and a snack, comfortable shoes, and weather-appropriate clothing, bring binoculars and if not we have extra pairs to loan.
