November 20 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm
The Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens is home to more than 150 species of mushrooms during fall and winter on the Mendocino Coast. Mondays from November 20 to December 18 the Gardens offer Mushroom Walks with Mycologist, Mario Abreu starting at 1:30. The tours are free with Gardens admission.
Mushrooms are the fruiting bodies of some types of fungi. Normally hidden underground, these reproductive structures lie dormant until the rainy season, when they sprout above the earth. The Gardens consider mushrooms to be one of their collections, and are the only botanical garden in the U.S. to label the mushrooms in our garden with both scientific and common names.
