Carbon Monoxide Detectors

California state law now requires homeowners to install carbon monoxide detectors in all single family homes with an attached garage or a fossil fuel source. Community Center of Mendocino

Community Center of Mendocino is forming a new organization to support the ongoing financial needs of Friendship Park and the twentieth anniversary re-dedication on July 4th, 2013. Friendship Park was dedicated in a joyful celebration during which samples of dirt from every major league field in North America, and three fields in Miasa, Japan, were added to home plate. With boxes of old Little League records. team pictures, Facebook, and parents and young adults who still live here; a research team will reconnect with alumni to create the Friendship Park Alumni Association. Much restoration and repair is needed, but is possible. The Mendocino Community Library - right across from the Art Center - has books, which never need batteries, downloads or hot spots. Medical patients needing to dispose of old syringe needles have free drop-off service at three transfer stations in Mendocino county. Old needles/sharps, only accepted if properly packaged. Acceptable containers: old detergent or bleach bottles, capped and taped shut and labeled "sharps," or official red hard-plastic sharps containers. No other containers will be allowed. Home-generated sharps only. Callie Coats, a Second Chance project needs of yarn, knitting needles, crochet hooks and talented hands to make dog sweaters for the less fortunate dogs in our community. Short-haired and smaller breeds are susceptible to the cold. Many of the families Second Chance helps are asking if they have any sweaters available. CHP says Cover Your Load

The California Highway Patrol says Cover Your Load or Risk a Fine of $206. The CHP monitors traffic headed for local disposal sites to enforce Vehicle Code Section 23115 requiring that trash must be "totally covered to prevent ... any part of the load from spilling or falling from the vehicle."
